The installation of 3 ice rinks for the TV show Dancing on ice on ANT1 was a very interesting experience for our company.
We installed an ice rink of 600sqp in the yard of KAPPA STUDIOS which functioned as a training ground.
However, the basic installations took place in the basement – LIVE SHOW rink – and in the second basement -training- of STUDIO KAPPA. For this reason, special mechanical and hydraulic studies were carried out for the installation of the 2 refrigeration machines that were made in the ground floor yard.
The project was a mechanical challenge as large altitude differences had to be covered.
In Trikala’s christmas park , we presented an original ice rink. For the first time in Europe, and octagonal ice rink with a single hydraulic flow was installed.
After careful study we installed the ice rink with a special – bypass- of the hydraulic system in the middle of the ice rink to enter the base of the tent.
At the SNFCC, the installation takes place on a special platform which has been set up in the river of the cultural center. The fact that the installation takes place over salt water as well as the existence of the sea nearby and the many frequent south winds should worry us. This is because south winds and sea water affect the quality of the ice. We studied the weather conditions of the last 3 years in the area and for the period that we would operate the ice rink and we chose modern-latest-generation refrigeration machines that provide low cooling at very high hot outdoor temperatures.
